On March 5, 2024, Richard Butler, an 88-year-old Air Force veteran and retired SEPTA bus driver, was fatally shot in West Philadelphia. The incident occurred around 1:35 p.m. on the 100 block of North Dewey Street, where Butler was seated in his white Hyundai Santa Fe.
