On a Sunday afternoon in April 2016, a young Black male named Kyle Arroyo, 23, was found unresponsive and bleeding from his left shoulder in the rear driveway of a residence on the 6000 block of North American Street in the Olney section of Philadelphia. Medics from the Fire Department had responded to a 'hospital case' call at approximately 2:30 p.m. and transported him to Einstein Medical Center.
At the hospital, it was determined that Arroyo had sustained a gunshot wound.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at about 3:30 p.m. that same day. At the time of his death, Arroyo resided on the 5900 block of Ella Street, also in Olney.
In the days following the shooting, Philadelphia police were actively searching for the individuals responsible for this and other homicides that occurred over the same weekend. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with Kyle Arroyo's death, and his case remains open. Authorities have offered a $20,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest and conviction in the case.
