It was November 11, 1994, at approximately 11:30 p.m., when English and a group of five of his friends were making their way home after a trip to the Lloyd Center. They had just stepped off the bus at the corner of NE 15th and Going when the night took a devastating turn.
As the young men stood together on the street corner, a car suddenly approached,
and a volley of gunshots shattered the night's quiet. The group immediately scattered, seeking refuge at a nearby residence where they pleaded for someone to call the police. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, they discovered English lying on the sidewalk. He had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
