Who murdered 39 year old Lavell \Twin\ Clayton Thomas in 1994? On the evening of June 27, 1994, Lavell Clayton Thomas, a 39-year-old African-American man, was found lying in the street on Southwest 2nd Avenue, between Southwest Burnside and Ankeny in Portland, Oregon. Known on the street as "Twin," Thomas had sustained a fatal stab wound. Paramedics arrived at the scene around 8:30 p.m. but were unable to resuscitate him, and he died there on the street.
Thomas was known to frequent the Old Town area and had a criminal record.
Just before the stabbing, he was reportedly seen with two white males in what appeared to be a drug transaction. These two men were not located after the incident and are considered suspects in his death. The case remains an unsolved homicide.
Numerous witnesses were present at the time of the incident. Descriptions of the suspects were provided to the police. The first suspect was described as a white male in his 30s, approximately 6'1" tall, with scruffy brown hair. A witness believed his first name might be Dale. The second suspect was also a white male in his 30s, around 5'9" tall, with brown or black hair that covered his ears. Despite these descriptions and the number of witnesses, neither suspect has been positively identified, and no arrests have been made in the case. Investigators believe that there are people who know the identities of the suspects.
