In the quiet city of Portland, Oregon, a neighbor's concern led to a grim discovery on the morning of December 15, 2008. Howard Curtiss Olson, a 67-year-old Caucasian male, had not been seen for several days, prompting a call to the police. When officers arrived at his residence at 121 NE 143rd Avenue at 8:21 a.m., they found Mr. Olson deceased on the floor near the back door.
