On August 28, 1993, 19-year-old Tien Hoang Truong was fatally shot in Portland, Oregon. Truong was attending a party in the 500 block of NE 80th Avenue with other youths of Vietnamese descent. At around 10:30 p.m., a red van drove by, and a passenger opened fire on the group standing outside. Truong was hit and died at the scene.
