Bennie Lee Hedgmon, a 47-year-old African-American man, was the victim of a fatal assault on the afternoon of May 15, 1995, in Portland, Oregon. The attack occurred in broad daylight, at approximately 4:25 p.m., at the intersection of North Jessup Street and Albina Avenue. Several witnesses reported seeing an unidentified African-American male physically assaulting Hedgmon.
