On the morning of July 6, 2011, the body of 18-year-old Andre Nathaniel Lewis was discovered in North Birmingham, Alabama. An employee arriving for work at Star Truck Parts found the young Black man lying on the ground inside the fenced compound of the business. Lewis, who was not an employee of the company, had been shot multiple times in the back.
