Do you know who murdered Jeannette? On the evening of October 25, 1991, forty-six-year-old Jeannette LaRue Perry was working at the Lucky Seven Liquor store on East Admiral Place in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Having been in the area for only four months, she was nearing the end of her shift. Around 9 p.m., her mother arrived to help her close up for the night. As she pulled up, she noticed three men inside the store but couldn't see her daughter.
Choosing to wait in her car until the men left, she observed them exit the store and the parking lot before she went inside to check on her daughter.
Upon entering the liquor store, a sense of dread likely washed over her as Jeannette was nowhere to be seen. Her mother made her way to the back room, where she made a devastating discovery: Jeannette was on the floor, having been fatally shot. Investigators believe the motive for the attack was robbery, as the cash register showed signs of being tampered with, though it did not appear that the perpetrators were successful in taking any money.
Witnesses, including Jeannette's mother, described the three suspects as African American men. Two were estimated to be in their late teens or early twenties, while the third was believed to be in his thirties or forties. Despite these descriptions, no one has ever been charged in connection with the murder of Jeannette Perry, a woman who left behind two children and a grandchild. Her case remains an unsolved homicide. In the years that followed, police explored a possible connection to the killing of another convenience store clerk in a nearby town, but no definitive link to Jeannette's murder could be established, leaving her family with unanswered questions and a quest for justice that continues to this day.
