Do you know who murdered Brenda? In the early evening of February 5, 1997, the life of 31-year-old Brenda Jean Young was tragically cut short in her Tulsa, Oklahoma apartment. A resident of the Comanche Park Apartments, located at 1300 E. 36th Street North, Brenda was a mother, sister, and daughter who had grown up in the Tulsa area and attended Central High School.
Just before 8:00 p.m., a sense of dread filled the apartment complex as neighbors overheard Brenda's desperate plea, 'Don't beat me up again!'.
The chilling shout was immediately followed by the sound of multiple gunshots, prompting concerned residents to contact the authorities. When police arrived at her apartment at 1329 E. 36th Street North, they discovered a grim scene. Brenda Young was found deceased near her kitchen pantry, having been shot multiple times in the chest with what was believed to be a semi-automatic weapon.
In the chaotic moments after the shooting, witnesses reported seeing a man fleeing from Brenda's apartment. The individual was described as a Black male, standing approximately 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He was reportedly wearing green insulated coveralls and a black knit cap. Despite this description, no arrests have ever been made in connection with Brenda's murder, and there are no publicly known suspects. Her case remains an unsolved homicide, a cold case that has left her family and the community searching for answers for decades.
