In the winter of 2014, a night out in Oklahoma City turned tragic for 34-year-old Susie Wahpekeche. On January 22nd, she was driving near SW 15th Street and Interstate 44 with a companion, Ray Dean Johnson. As they drove, another vehicle pulled alongside them and an unknown assailant opened fire into their car. Both Susie and Ray were struck by the gunfire.
Despite their injuries, they managed to drive to the nearby Integris Southwest Medical Center to seek help.
Tragically, Susie Wahpekeche succumbed to her wounds shortly after arriving at the hospital. Her friend, Ray Dean Johnson, survived the attack. The motive for the shooting remains a mystery to investigators, though they have stated they do not believe it was a random act of violence.
Years have passed since the fatal shooting, and despite appeals to the public for information, no arrests have been made in connection with Susie Wahpekeche's murder. Her case remains an unsolved homicide, leaving her family still searching for answers and justice for her untimely death.
