In the early morning hours of Saturday, July 25, 2026, the life of 23-year-old Luis Hernandez was tragically cut short in a burst of violence at a Nashville apartment complex. The fatal encounter unfolded around 4:20 a.m. at the City Side Flats on Lebanon Pike, where a gathering had taken a deadly turn. Hernandez was attending an after-party with his girlfriend when a dispute escalated into a physical altercation in the parking lot.

According to police reports, the argument that led to the shooting involved a group of individuals. During the confrontation, Hernandez's girlfriend attempted to intervene and was subsequently pistol-whipped. In the ensuing chaos, Luis Hernandez was shot multiple times. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The incident left the community shaken and prompted an immediate and active investigation by the Metro Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit.

Within a day of the shooting, a suspect in the killing surrendered to authorities. On the evening of July 25, 20-year-old Austin Arrieta turned himself in at police headquarters. Following an investigation into the events of that morning, Arrieta was charged with criminal homicide for the death of Luis Hernandez. Another man, identified as Anthony Beville, was also taken into custody in connection with the incident. Beville faces a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly striking Hernandez's girlfriend with a firearm. As the legal proceedings began, court records indicated that the cases against both Arrieta and Beville were open and moving through the justice system. The overview of the case points to a violent escalation of a dispute at a social gathering, resulting in a young man's death and serious charges against two individuals.
