Thomas Edward Boyd, a 37-year-old man from Nashville, TN, was fatally shot on March 31, 2020, in the parking lot of America's Best Value Inn on Brick Church Pike. Boyd had recently stayed at the motel and returned around 4 a.m. to retrieve his belongings when he was confronted by Jerry Buckner, a 56-year-old convicted sex offender and robber. The confrontation occurred in a stairwell, leading to Boyd being shot by Buckner. Boyd's death was a result of this altercation.
