On December 22, 2023, at approximately 2 a.m., Richard Samuel "Sammy" Wilder, aged 43, was found deceased in the driver's seat of a wrecked pickup truck in the 1400 block of Brick Church Pike in Nashville, Tennessee. Initial reports indicated that the vehicle had been traveling southbound at a high speed, failed to navigate a curve, crashed through a ditch and a pole, and ultimately came to rest in a nearby car lot.
