On the evening of December 14, 2025, tragedy struck in Nashville, Tennessee, resulting in the untimely death of Gavin Christian Thompson, a 34-year-old male. The fatal incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. at an apartment complex located on Zermatt Avenue in South Nashville. According to reports from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, Thompson was walking toward a townhome when he was suddenly ambushed by two masked individuals.
In an attempt to escape the confrontation, he tried to retreat to his vehicle parked nearby, but the assailants chased him down. The attackers physically assaulted Thompson in the parking lot before drawing weapons and firing multiple shots, inflicting fatal wounds.
Following the attack, the two suspects were captured on surveillance footage fleeing the scene. They were seen entering the back seat of a dark-colored sedan, identified by investigators as a Chevrolet Impala, likely a model year between 2014 and 2020 with a Premier trim package. The vehicle sped away from the complex, leaving detectives to piece together the events of the ambush. As of late December 2025, no arrests had been made in connection with the murder. Homicide detectives continued to follow active leads and issued public appeals for assistance, offering a cash reward for information helping to identify the gunmen or the occupants of the getaway car.
Gavin Thompson was remembered by his community as a dedicated family man and an industrious entrepreneur. He was the founder of AGA, a dog breeding business named after his children, and also worked as a compassionate caregiver managing homes for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Those who knew him described him as a generous spirit who prioritized his family and the well-being of others. He leaves behind a fiancée and four children who, along with his extended family, have expressed deep grief over the senseless violence that cut his life short. Funeral services were scheduled to be held at Highland Hills Funeral Home later in the month as police continued their search for those responsible.
