In the typically quiet Afton Oaks Apartment Complex in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the morning of Wednesday, May 27, 2026, was shattered by violence. Around 10:30 a.m., police responded to reports of a shooting and discovered a tragic scene inside one of the apartments on Newcastle Avenue. They found two people deceased from gunshot wounds: 33-year-old Averia Latrice Arceneaux and 29-year-old Johvon McKinley.
