Patricia Ann Jackson, a 58-year-old female employee at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, was fatally shot on March 19, 2025, just one day after her birthday. The incident occurred in the hospital's parking lot on Hennessy Boulevard in Baton Rouge as she was leaving work. Jackson was inside her vehicle when she was shot multiple times following a verbal altercation.
Despite being rushed to the hospital where she worked, she succumbed to her injuries.
The suspect in the shooting was identified as 60-year-old Roland Domino. Domino was described as Jackson's former domestic partner. While police initially reported that the two had recently gotten back together, Jackson's son stated that his mother had not been in a relationship with Domino for 40 years. According to arrest records, Domino had gone to the hospital to fill out a job application and began arguing with Jackson in the parking lot.
Later that evening, around 7:15 p.m., police located Domino on the Mississippi River Bridge with a gun in his hand. He was apprehended by officers and taken into custody. Domino was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon. Domino has a prior criminal history that includes arrests for forgery, simple burglary, and aggravated assault.
In June 2025, Roland Domino was formally indicted for the second-degree murder of Patricia Jackson. He initially pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in July. By October 2025, a court had found Domino mentally competent to stand trial.
