In the winter of 2023, a shooting in Baton Rouge claimed the life of 24-year-old Tamine Richardson and left another individual with non-life-threatening injuries. The incident occurred on December 23rd on Riley Street. Richardson was transported to a local hospital where she ultimately succumbed to her gunshot wounds. In the immediate aftermath, the motive for the shooting and any potential suspects remained unknown to law enforcement.
Months later, in April 2024, a breakthrough in the
case came when the Baton Rouge Police Department arrested 30-year-old Tremal Baker. The arrest was the result of a proactive traffic stop initiated when officers observed a vehicle being driven without headlights. The driver, identified as Baker, fled the vehicle with a firearm in hand. Following a brief pursuit on foot, officers were able to apprehend him. It was then that Baker was identified as the suspect in the December shooting that resulted in Tamine Richardson's death.
Following his capture, Tremal Baker was booked on charges of first-degree murder in connection with the death of Tamine Richardson.
