On the evening of April 13, 2016, Rashide Sylvester Fraser, a 29-year-old male from Roanoke, was fatally shot in Hampton, Virginia. The incident unfolded at a Speedy Mart located near 201 Lassiter Drive. Fraser was the passenger in a silver PT Cruiser when an unknown individual shot him multiple times, striking him in the spine and the back of his neck.
Following the shooting, a friend who was driving the vehicle, which had an apparent bullet hole in the windshield, drove Fraser to a
nearby McDonald's parking lot at the intersection of Martha Lee Drive and West Mercury Boulevard. A call was made to 911 from inside the McDonald's at approximately 8:20 p.m., dispatching officers to the scene. Fraser was transported to a local hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Investigators with the Hampton Police Division also processed another crime scene about a mile away from the McDonald's, near the City Line Apartments, though its connection to the shooting was not specified. The friend who was with Fraser at the time of the shooting has been cooperating with the investigation and is not considered a suspect.
To date, there has been no information released to the public regarding a suspect or a motive in the killing of Rashide Sylvester Fraser. The case remains an unsolved homicide, and authorities have encouraged anyone with information to contact the Crime Line.
