In Montgomery, Alabama, on the evening of Friday, March 27, 2026, a burst of gunfire shattered the night, leaving a local man dead. Kevin Pettus, a 39-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on Union Street in an incident that would quickly become a homicide investigation. The shooting occurred shortly before 8:30 p.m., and when authorities arrived, they found Pettus with a fatal gunshot wound.
