In the early morning hours of Sunday, March 29, 2026, the life of 26-year-old Erika Latavia Latham was tragically cut short in Uniontown, Alabama. The incident, which marked the city's first homicide of the year, unfolded just after 1:00 a.m. in the 200 block of Water Avenue. Officers from the Uniontown Police Department responded to a call regarding a shooting and, upon arrival, discovered that Ms. Latham, a resident of Reform in Pickens County, had been struck by gunfire.
She was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Uniontown Police Department quickly requested the assistance of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation to take the lead on the case. The investigation swiftly pointed to a suspect, and on Monday, March 30, 2026, an arrest was made. Deandre Brandell Langhorne, a 33-year-old resident of Uniontown, was taken into custody by SBI Special Agents. He was subsequently charged with manslaughter in connection with Ms. Latham's death and booked into the Perry County District Court.
