Known affectionately as "JJ" to his family and friends, he was a hardworking young man, balancing his studies with a job at Whataburger. He was described as a loving, kind, and funny individual who had a gift for bringing laughter to those around him and was deeply loved by his family.
JJ was excited about the upcoming milestones in his life, including prom and graduation, and carried big dreams for what lay ahead.
On the evening of April 15, 2026, a disturbance near the intersection of Weber Road and Tripoli Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas, ended in violence. Officers were dispatched to the scene around 7:52 p.m. and found Jacob with a gunshot wound. First aid was administered at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. A preliminary investigation suggested that some sort of altercation occurred during which a weapon was produced.
In the wake of the shooting, Corpus Christi police detectives began an intensive investigation, interviewing multiple witnesses who were at the scene.
