Abraham Salazar, a 45-year-old Hispanic man, tragically lost his life on May 5, 2025, in Corpus Christi, Texas. The incident occurred in the 4900 block of Cain Drive and was reported as a domestic-related dispute that escalated into violence. Authorities responded to multiple reports of gunfire in the area around 9:45 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Abraham Salazar lying in a driveway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency responders immediately began life-saving measures, and he was transported to Spohn Shoreline Hospital with CPR in progress. Despite efforts, he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from a family dispute. Abraham Salazar had reportedly gone to the residence earlier in the evening, where he engaged in an argument with his younger brother, 41-year-old Adam Salazar. Witnesses stated that Adam had been renting the home for over a year and a half, and tensions between the brothers had been escalating. During the confrontation, Adam allegedly brandished a firearm, leading Abraham to fear for his life. Officers had initially responded to a call regarding the disturbance but later cleared the scene after determining there was no immediate threat.
Later that evening, another call was placed to authorities, and Abraham Salazar met officers at a nearby Taco Bell parking lot, where he expressed concerns about his brother’s behavior. He reportedly requested law enforcement to remove Adam from the home and even suggested calling SWAT. Officers declined to intervene further, stating that Adam was alone and did not pose a danger to others inside the residence. Abraham then warned officers that if they did not respond, he would handle the situation himself. Shortly after, gunfire erupted at the Cain Drive residence, and Abraham was found fatally wounded inside his 2014 Chevrolet Camaro.
Following the shooting, Corpus Christi police detained Adam Salazar at the scene. He was later arrested and charged with murder. Authorities confirmed that the incident was domestic in nature and assured the public that there was no ongoing threat. Adam Salazar is currently being held in the Nueces County Jail on a $1 million bond as investigators continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
