On the afternoon of April 10, 2026, 39-year-old Darian Ragland was found shot to death inside his vehicle in Temple Hills, Maryland. Police responded to the 4700 block of Branch Avenue at approximately 4:35 p.m., where they discovered Ragland suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. At the time of his death, Ragland, a resident of Brandywine, was on his way to pick up his seven-year-old daughter.
Detectives with the Prince George's County Police Department's
Homicide Unit are investigating the case and are working to determine a motive and identify any suspects. While no official motive has been released, family members have stated that they were told by detectives that the shooting could have been the result of a road rage incident. According to his family, Ragland was a contractor for Metro, where he installed wraps on buses and trains. His boss described him as a leader and a mentor at his job.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Ragland's death. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and have offered a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case. Ragland's family is grieving his loss, which is compounded by previous tragedies. His mother has now lost all three of her sons; one was killed by a drunk driver in 2002, and another was shot in 2011.
