In a tragic turn of events on a Thursday afternoon in Columbia, South Carolina, 18-year-old Jordan T. Miller lost his life in a shooting on Monticello Road. The incident, which occurred on March 5, 2026, also resulted in another individual being wounded and subsequently hospitalized.
Richland County Sheriff's Department deputies were dispatched to the 7300 block of Monticello Road around 12:15 p.m. following reports of the shooting.
Upon their arrival, they discovered two victims with gunshot wounds. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene, a fact later confirmed by the Richland County Coroner's Office.
Investigations into the shooting revealed that the victims and the suspect were acquainted and had prearranged to meet at the location where the violence erupted. The suspect allegedly opened fire on the two individuals upon their arrival.
Later that same day, at approximately 7 p.m., the Richland County Sheriff's Department's Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team located and apprehended a suspect. Twenty-year-old Anthony Boyd was taken into custody without incident. Boyd has since been charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He is being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
