In the early evening of Sunday, March 15, 2015, in Columbia, South Carolina, a dispute that began earlier in the day over a basketball game would ultimately claim the life of 17-year-old Eric T. Washington. A senior at C.A. Johnson High School, Washington was also a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard with plans to continue his military career after his upcoming graduation in May. That evening, he went to T.S. Martin Park off Two Notch Road to settle the earlier disagreement.
