A promising meeting arranged online to purchase a vehicle turned into a fatal encounter for Alexander Henrique Sanchez-Montilla, a 41-year-old Venezuelan man. On the evening of February 12, 2026, Sanchez-Montilla traveled to a residence on Winton Drive in Antioch, Tennessee, with the intention of buying a car he had found listed on Facebook Marketplace. He was accompanied by a friend who waited in their vehicle while Sanchez-Montilla went into the garage of the home to complete the transaction.
After several minutes had passed, the sound of gunshots shattered the evening quiet. Sanchez-Montilla was struck in both legs by gunfire as he attempted to flee from the garage and return to his friend's waiting car. Despite his injuries, his friend quickly drove him away from the scene, heading towards Smyrna. As they sped along Interstate 24, Sanchez-Montilla himself managed to call 911 to report the shooting and plead for help.
They first arrived at TriStar StoneCrest Medical Center in Smyrna, from where he was then airlifted to the TriStar Skyline Medical Center in Nashville due to the severity of his wounds. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical personnel, Alexander Henrique Sanchez-Montilla succumbed to his injuries and passed away in the early hours of the following day.
The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department's Homicide Unit is actively investigating the case. Preliminary findings from the investigation suggest that Sanchez-Montilla was specifically targeted as he ran from the garage. To date, authorities have not publicly identified any suspects in the deadly shooting, and no arrests have been announced. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to pursue leads.
