A quiet Valentine’s Day morning in a St. George, South Carolina, neighborhood was shattered by a fatal shooting that left a young man dead. The Dorchester County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 25-year-old Trevon Elmore, a resident of St. George. The incident, which has unsettled the small community, is currently under a joint investigation by the coroner's office and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies and emergency responders were called to a home in the 100
block of Earl Drive at approximately 7:19 a.m. on February 14, 2026, following reports of a disturbance. Investigators reported that Elmore had been shot during a "quarrel" at the residence. Upon their arrival, deputies discovered Elmore with apparent gunshot wounds. They immediately began administering life-saving aid until emergency medical services arrived.
Despite the rapid response, Elmore's injuries were too severe. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 10:50 a.m. by Coroner Paul Brouthers. In line with standard procedure for violent deaths, Elmore’s body was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for a forensic autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of death.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division have been processing the scene and interviewing potential witnesses to piece together the events that led to the deadly confrontation.
