On the evening of Tuesday, February 17, 2026, a tragedy unfolded in Southeast Washington, D.C., resulting in the death of 18-year-old Dontay Smith. A young man, Smith was found suffering from a gunshot wound and, despite the immediate response and efforts of emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
