In the late afternoon of Friday, March 22, 2024, the sounds of gunshots shattered the day in a Southeast, Washington, D.C. neighborhood. When police officers from the Seventh District arrived at the 2900 block of Gainesville Street, Southeast, just after 3:00 p.m., they began to search the area. Their search led them to the nearby 2800 block of Hartford Street, Southeast, where they discovered a man unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound.
