In what authorities are describing as a tragic domestic dispute, 20-year-old Ingris Carolina Damas Morales was killed by gunfire on Saturday, January 31, 2026, in Kansas City, Kansas. The incident, which unfolded just before noon in a residence on Orville Avenue, also resulted in the death of the suspected shooter.
When police and emergency personnel arrived at the home in the 1000 block of Orville Avenue, they discovered three adults inside who had all sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Ms. Morales and the man identified as the suspect, 43-year-old Josue Avila-Carcamo, were both pronounced dead at the scene. A third individual, an adult male, was also found with gunshot injuries. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds and was subsequently released.
The initial investigation by the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department's Major Case Unit has led detectives to believe the shooting was the result of a domestic violence incident. Based on the evidence gathered at the scene, authorities are not currently searching for any other suspects in connection with the deaths. The case remains under investigation to determine the full circumstances that led to the fatal encounter.
