On New Year's Day in Philadelphia, a dispute escalated into a deadly shootout that resulted in the death of 21-year-old Quadir Tull and another man. The incident took place on the 7100 block of Oakland Street shortly after 11 a.m.
The confrontation began when a group, including Tull, arrived at the residence of 52-year-old Luis Colon to confront his stepdaughter. The dispute was related to the stepdaughter's ex-boyfriend, who was not present at the scene.
An altercation broke out on the front lawn, during which Colon's wife and stepdaughter were allegedly assaulted by two women from the group, one of whom was identified as 44-year-old Cara Williams-Reeves.
When Colon intervened, Tull and 21-year-old Tyriq Williams allegedly pushed him and drew firearms. Colon then produced his own firearm, and a shootout erupted between the three men. Both Colon and Tull sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Following the shooting, Tull and Williams fled the scene in a dark-colored Chrysler 300. They drove to Temple University Hospital, where Tull was pronounced dead at 11:52 a.m. Williams had been shot in the hand and was listed in stable condition. Colon was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:55 a.m.
Authorities later arrested and charged Tyriq Williams and Cara Williams-Reeves with murder and other related offenses in connection with the fatal shootout.
