On February 18, 2023, Officer Christopher Fitzgerald, aged 31, was fatally shot while responding to a robbery near Temple University's campus in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred around 7 p.m. when Officer Fitzgerald attempted to intervene in a carjacking in progress.
