On December 8, 2025, deputies from the Jackson Parish Sheriff's Office arrived at a residence located at 178 Shows Lane in the Weston and Caney Lake area of Jonesboro, Louisiana, to conduct a welfare check. Upon entering the home, authorities discovered the bodies of 62-year-old female Gayla Smith and another individual, identified as 62-year-old James Bradford. Both individuals had sustained injuries consistent with gunshot wounds and were pronounced deceased at the scene.
