In the early morning hours of December 9, 2025, a violent incident occurred in the East Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, resulting in the death of 56-year-old Mark M. Easley, an African American man and resident of the Garfield area. Just before 2:00 a.m., Pittsburgh police officers were dispatched to the 2300 block of East Hills Drive after receiving reports of gunfire in the vicinity.
Upon their arrival at the scene, law enforcement officials conducted a search of the premises and discovered Easley in the rear of a building, suffering from a critical gunshot wound to the head.
First responders and paramedics from Pittsburgh EMS immediately began life-saving measures before transporting the critically injured man to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Oakland. Despite the emergency medical intervention, Easley’s condition deteriorated, and he was pronounced dead at the medical center shortly before 3:00 a.m. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office later confirmed his identity and cause of death, ruling the incident a homicide.
As of the latest reports following the shooting, the investigation into the killing remains ongoing with limited details released to the public regarding the circumstances that led to the violence. Pittsburgh Public Safety officials have not announced any arrests in connection with the case, nor have they publicly identified any potential suspects or persons of interest.
