Frederick Demond Robertson Jr., a 23-year-old Black male, lost his life on December 9, 2025, following a shooting in the Bush Hills neighborhood of Birmingham, Alabama. The incident occurred during the early morning hours on Fifth Avenue West while Robertson was sitting inside a parked vehicle with another individual. Reports indicate that an unknown person approached the car and suddenly opened fire, striking the vehicle multiple times.
Emergency personnel arrived at the scene shortly
before 6:00 a.m. and found Robertson unresponsive in the front seat, having sustained fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office at 6:22 a.m. The second man inside the vehicle survived the attack but was injured and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Investigators with the Birmingham Police Department launched a homicide inquiry to determine the circumstances leading to the violence. As of the days following the event, authorities had not established a clear motive or identified any specific suspects. No arrests were immediately reported, and police urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers to assist with the ongoing investigation.
