On January 27, 2020, at approximately 9:26 p.m., Birmingham Police officers responded to a report of a person shot at 621 Goldwire Place in the West Birmingham area. Upon arrival, they discovered 23-year-old James Rashad Brown lying on the ground, suffering from a gunshot wound. Birmingham Fire and Rescue transported Brown to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 2:30 a.m. on January 28, 2020.
