In the summer of 2014, a young life was abruptly cut short on the streets of Kansas City. Theodore Bass-Brooks, a 20-year-old Black male, was fatally shot on July 29, 2014. The incident took place in the 3600 block of Brooklyn Avenue, where a dispute involving several individuals escalated into violence.
Just after midnight, the altercation turned deadly when gunshots rang out. Responding to the scene, law enforcement found Bass-Brooks suffering from gunshot wounds.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries. In the immediate aftermath, it was learned that two other young men had also been shot during the incident. They were taken to a hospital by private vehicle with non-life-threatening injuries.
