Authorities in New Brockton, Alabama, launched a homicide investigation following the death of 41-year-old Timothy Shawn Benway, who was discovered deceased in his home on the morning of December 11, 2025. Law enforcement officers from the New Brockton Police Department and deputies from the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of shots fired in the 400 block of Fitzsimmons Street early that Wednesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the Coffee County Coroner’s Office subsequently listed the manner of death as a homicide resulting from the shooting.
