In the late afternoon of September 15, 2021, the life of 38-year-old Brian Foxhall, a Black male from Montgomery, Alabama, was tragically cut short. The incident unfolded around 5:30 PM in the parking lot of the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 8035 Vaughn Road. First responders arrived at the scene to find Mr. Foxhall with a fatal gunshot wound.
The day after the shooting, Montgomery police arrested 34-year-old David Gilmore in connection with the homicide.
Gilmore was subsequently charged with two counts of capital murder and was taken into custody at the Montgomery County Detention Facility. The motive and the specific circumstances leading up to the fatal encounter were not immediately made public as the investigation continued.
Brian Foxhall was remembered by those who knew him for his positive energy. Funeral services were held on September 24, 2021, at the Ross-Clayton Funeral Home Chapel in Montgomery, where friends and family gathered to mourn their loss.
