On the morning of Wednesday, December 17, 2025, a violent tragedy unfolded in Macon, Georgia, claiming the life of an 18-year-old male named DeKerrio Jamontez Cobb. The incident occurred in broad daylight at a Citgo gas station located in the 1900 block of Shurling Drive. Just before noon, at approximately 11:57 a.m., emergency dispatchers received a call reporting gunfire at the convenience store. Cobb had arrived at the location in a white vehicle and was approaching the entrance of the business when he was fatally wounded. Surveillance footage from the scene reportedly showed the victim opening the door to the shop before being shot by an individual who was exiting the building.
Bibb County deputies rushed to the scene to find Cobb unresponsive from gunshot wounds. Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, Deputy Coroner LuAnn Stone pronounced him dead at the scene. Investigators quickly began piecing together the events, noting that the shooter had been inside the store moments earlier purchasing candy and a snack before walking out and encountering Cobb. The suspect was seen fleeing the area on foot, heading west while holding a firearm. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office subsequently released a surveillance image of a person of interest, described as wearing a gray zipper jacket with a black top underneath, and urged the community to come forward with information.
The investigation moved swiftly, and by the following day, authorities had identified a suspect. On the evening of Thursday, December 18, 2025, 17-year-old Brandon Robinson contacted investigators and turned himself in to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office just before 10:00 p.m. Robinson was subsequently arrested and charged with murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Following his surrender, he appeared in magistrate court where he was denied bond. At the time of the arrest, law enforcement had not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting or confirmed whether the two teenagers knew each other prior to the deadly encounter.
Family and friends mourned the loss of Cobb, who was remembered as an aspiring entrepreneur with a promising future. Born in 2007 to parents Ashley Cobb and Devonte Allen, he had recently started his own lawn care business known as "Chop & Blow." His obituary highlighted his connections to the community and the deep void his sudden death left among his loved ones. The case remained under active investigation as detectives continued to analyze evidence surrounding the fatal shooting that shook the East Macon neighborhood.
