In the winter of 2016, a 42-year-old African-American woman named Twynett Rivers vanished from a group home on Sycamore Street in Buffalo, New York. Rivers, who was a mother and grandmother, had last been seen in early January and had the added vulnerability of requiring daily medication. For weeks, her whereabouts remained a troubling mystery, casting a shadow of concern over her family and friends.
