On a summer evening in a South Buffalo neighborhood, the life of 31-year-old Geneva Smith was tragically cut short. On June 20, 2018, Smith, a Black female, was fatally shot around 6:00 PM on Pomona Place. The Buffalo Police Department responded to the scene and confirmed her death. The community was left in shock by the violent act that took place in what is typically considered a quiet area.
