Joshua Moyer, a 39-year-old man from Columbus, OH, tragically died on May 31, 2022. Moyer was killed after confronting a man who was breaking into his wife's car in their driveway. Around 4:20 a.m., Moyer saw the suspect, later identified as Derek Hotelling, 31, rummaging through the vehicle. Moyer attempted to detain Hotelling until police arrived, but during the struggle, Hotelling pulled out a gun and shot Moyer, who was unarmed. Moyer was pronounced dead at the scene.
