Bryan Scott Hurst, a 33-year-old male police officer with the Columbus Division of Police, tragically lost his life on January 6, 2005. Officer Hurst was working special duty at the Fifth Third Bank located at 6265 East Broad Street in Columbus when a robbery took place. The suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Daryl Lawrence, entered the bank, announced the robbery, and immediately opened fire on Officer Hurst.
