Nicholas G. Evans, a 51-year-old male of White ethnicity, tragically passed away on July 20, 2022, in Columbus, Ohio. He was found shot to death behind the United Dairy Farmers convenience store in the Short North Arts District. According to police reports, Evans was involved in an altercation with 47-year-old Jeremy Vest, who pulled out a firearm and shot Evans.
Vest was later arrested and charged with murder.
The incident occurred around 1:40 a.m., when Evans was retrieving his bike in an alleyway behind the store. After being shot, Evans attempted to return to the store but collapsed in front of the rear doors. People inside the store called the police, and Evans was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:55 a.m. Vest was taken into custody a few blocks away from the shooting scene and has been held in custody since then.
