Tyreece O'Neal Jefferson, a 40-year-old African American man from Columbus, Ohio, tragically passed away on July 21, 2022. Jefferson, affectionately known as Geechy, was born on February 8, 1982, and was well-loved by his family and friends. He was known for his bright smile, love for traveling, music, and attending parties, as well as his unwavering support for Ohio State sports.
On the night of his death, Jefferson was involved in an altercation at the Avion Bar and Grill on St.
Clair Avenue in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood of Columbus. The altercation led to Jefferson being shot by Dwann Anderson, 44, who was later charged with murder. Jefferson was found with a gunshot wound behind the bar and was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Following the incident, Anderson was arrested and charged with murder. During his arraignment, Anderson pleaded not guilty to the charges. The case has since been under investigation by the Columbus Division of Police, and Anderson was given a $1 million bond.
