In the fading afternoon light of a Sunday in Birmingham, Alabama, a verbal dispute between relatives escalated into a tragedy that would end a life. On November 16, 2025, Richard Dwayne Freeman, a 59-year-old man, was shot in the Riley neighborhood of the city, on Maple Avenue Southwest. The argument that preceded the shooting was described by authorities as a disagreement between Freeman and a younger male relative.
