In the early morning hours of November 10, 2025, the life of 37-year-old Johnathon C. Reed was tragically cut short in Kingsport, Tennessee. Police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots near Sky South Road in the Lynn Garden area. Upon arrival, they discovered Mr. Reed's body; he was pronounced deceased at the scene, a victim of gun violence.
Johnathon, a male, was born in Indianapolis on May 23, 1988. He attended Ben Davis High School where he was a proud member of the ROTC.
Later in life, he relocated to Tennessee for a change of pace. He had a passion for working on cars and motorcycles, a trait he shared with his father. Those who knew him described him as fiercely loyal to his friends and always willing to help someone in need. He was a loving father who often spoke of his three daughters and his desire to provide the best for them.
The investigation into Johnathon's death led to the swift apprehension of two individuals. By the evening of the same day, authorities had taken 22-year-old Krysten Atkins and 33-year-old Tyler Holly into custody at a residence on Garden Drive. Atkins has been charged with the first-degree murder of Johnathon Reed. Holly faces charges for allegedly acting as an accomplice after the incident. Both individuals were jailed as they await judicial proceedings. The investigation remains ongoing as the Kingsport Police Department continues to gather evidence and interview potential witnesses.
