Anthony was an independent landscaping contractor who cherished spending time with his family and friends, enjoyed outdoor activities, and was known for his willingness to assist others in need.
On the day of his death, U.S. Marshals attempted to serve an arrest warrant to Anthony Chavez for a federal probation violation. During this encounter, Chavez was shot and killed by Marshal Kenneth Daniel. Prior to this incident, Chavez had a criminal history that included an arrest for vehicular homicide in 2013, with those charges pending at the time of his death.
